About this site
Built by Nishant Kishore using ERA5 reanalysis data and heat-risk-data-api, a heat-vulnerability tool he built and maintains for public-health research.
The historical record runs from 1940 to the present; today's numbers update automatically each morning.
ERA5 is a global reanalysis grid, not a network of thermometers. It agrees closely with Atlanta's official station record on most days, and diverges by a degree or two on the most extreme ones. Methods and sources, including a real worked example of that gap: /atlanta/methods.
The neighborhoods chapter runs on heat-risk-data-api, the production heat-vulnerability tool Nishant built and maintains at CrisisReady for public-health assessments in cities worldwide. Full methods: /atlanta/methods.
